*** TECHNICAL INFORMATION FOR THE WB6JHQ REPEATER CONTROLLER AND AUDIO MIXER *** THE CONTROLLER CARD HAS 4, TTL LEVEL, SENSE LINES. THEY ARE THE COR (CARRIER OPERATED RELAY), PL (PRIVATE LINE), CPL (CONTROL PL), AND XMT EXTERNAL TRANSMITTER KEYING. ALL INPUTS ARE TTL ( 5 VOLT ) LOGIC. DO NOT APPLY ANY VOLTAGES HIGHER THAT 5 VOLTS. USE OPEN COLLECTOR DRIVERS OR TRANSISTORS TO PULL THE LINES TO GROUND. ALL INPUTS ARE GROUND ACTIVE. THE COR LINE IS USED TO SENSE WHEN A CARRIER IS PRESENT AT THE REPEATERS RECEIVER. THIS IS THE SAME AS SENSING THAT THE RECEIVER SQUELCH IS OPEN. THE CONTROLLER WILL YOU THIS LINE TO KEY THE REPEATER (TRANSISTOR T5) WHEN PL MODE IS OFF AND WHEN THE REPEATER FUNCTION IS ON. THIS LINE IS ALSO USED TO KEY THE REMOTE BASE TRANSMITTER (TRANSISTOR T2) WHEN THE REMOTE BASE FUNCTION IS ON. IF USING A G.E. MASTER II YOU WILL HAVE TO ADD A 2N2222 OR 2N3904 TO INVERT THE CUS LINE. PUT A 10K RESISTOR FROM CUS LINE TO BASE OF TRANSISTOR AND OPEN COLLECTOR OF TRANSISTOR TO THE COR INPUT OF THE CONTROLLER CARD. ALL LINES GOING INTO/OUT OF THE PL LINE IS USED TO SENSE WHEN THE PL DECODER HAS SENSED THE SPECIFIED PL TONE SELECTED. WHEN THE REPEATER IS SET TO PL MODE THIS LINE WILL KEY THE REPEATER AND REMOTE BASE, IF ENABLED, INSTEAD OF USING THE COR LINE. IN THIS CASE THE REPEATER WILL ONLY KEY UP WHEN THE CORRECT TONE IS DECODED BY THE CTCSS DECODER. (ie. COMSPEC TS-32 ETC.) THE CPL LINE IS USED FOR RING DETECT OF HAMTRONICS AUTOPATCH CARD. THE XMT LINE IS USED THE SAME AS THE COR LINE BUT COMES FROM THE REMOTE BASE RECEIVER. IT MAY BE EITHER COR OR PL DECODER SOURCED. PULLING THIS LINE TO GROUND WHEN THE REMOTE BASE FUNCTION IS ACTIVE WILL KEY THE REPEATERS TX. ALL LINES GOING INTO/OUT OF THE CONTROLLER/MIXER ENCLOSURE SHOULD BE BYPASSED WITH .01 MFD. CAPS AT PLUG. I USE DB25 FOR THE CONNECTORS. EMI FILTERS WOULD BE EVEN BETTER. COMPUTERS GENERATE A LOT OF RANDOM NOISE AND YOUR RECEIVER AND TRANSMITTER MAY PICK IT UP UNLESS YOU ASSEMBLE WITH GOOD SHIELDING. USING RG174 FOR ALL AUDIO AND CONTROL LINES IS A GOOD IDEA. DIAGNOSTIC POR, POWER ON RESET, IS ACCOMPLISHED BY PULLING ALL THE INPUT LINES TO GROUND VIA DIODES (SEE THE SCHEMATIC SUPPLIED) AND THEN POWER ON THE CONTROLLER. BY DOING THIS THE MICROCODE WILL BE PLACED INTO A DIAGNOSTIC MODE. THIS IS USED TO DETERMINE IF YOUR INPUT SENSE LINES ARE WORKING AND THAT THE DTMF (TOUCH-TONE) DECODER IS WORKING. THE LEDS ON THE CONTROLLER WILL INDICATE THE STATE OF THE LINES AND THE DTMF BINARY OUTPUT. SEE REPEATER DOC. THE TRANSISTORS ARE ASSIGNED AS FOLLOWS USING THE NORMAL MICROCODE SUPPLIED: T1 USED TO CONTROL POWER TO THE REMOTE BASE RX/TX. T2 USED TO KEY THE REMOTE BASE TX. T3 MAY BE USED AS NEEDED. T4 MAY BE USED AS NEEDED. T5 USED TO KEY THE REPEATERS TX. T6 USED AS SERIAL CLOCK OUTPUT TO 10 CH. MIXER BOARD. T7 USED AS SERIAL DATA OUTPUT TO 10 CH. MIXER BOARD. NOTE: THE TRANSISTORS MAY NEED TO BE CHANGED FROM MPS-A13 TO 2N3904. THIS IS BECAUSE MPS-A13 ARE DARLINGTONS AND WILL NOT PULL TO LOGIC GROUND. THE CURRENT VERSION OF CODE WILL CONTROL AN LCD DISPLAY, HAMTRONICS AUTOPATCH CARD, A DIGITALKER AND A REMOTE BASE. THESE ADD-ONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FROM ME BUT I WILL SUPPLY THE SCHEMATICS FOR THE DIGITALKER, LCD DISPLAY AND MODS TO HAMTRONICS AUTOPATCH CARD ON REQUEST. TRANSISTORS T3 AND T4 ARE USED FOR THE AUTOPATCH CARD IF USED. A PICTORIAL OF THE REQUIRED CONNECTIONS TO AND FROM THE HAMTRONICS CARD WILL BE SUPPLIED ON REQUEST ALONG WITH AN EXPLINATION OF MINOR MODS. TO THE CARD.
