Subject: Component change to correct DPL dropout, slow DPL detect time, and trunking audio holes in HT1000, MT2000, MTS2000, MTX8000, MTX9000 and VISAR radios. Radio Serial numbers affected range from ATJ (5-93') through AUF (3-94')

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES EARLIER PSB (F447) DATED : MARCH 1994

Kits Affected: All controller boards on Jedi and Visar portables.

Failure Mode: Jedi and Visar portables may experience one or more of the following issues in heavy Radio Frequency noise areas:
Problem #1: A radio receiving a DPL encoded signal way drop out after unmuting.
Problem #2: A radio receiving a DPL encoded signal may take as long as 2 seconds to unmute.
Problem #3: A radio operating in the trunked mode may experience 'audio holes', where the receive audio may drop out intermittently.

The above conditions occur ONLY when radios are operating in or around "high noise" areas such as computers, test equipment, or electronic equipment spraying RF noise.

Solution: For all three issues, replace the following capacitors with new (0.01 µF) capacitors."CAPACITORS LOCATED ON THE CONTROLLER BOARD FOR EACH RADIO MODEL"

For HT1000 Jedi Radio
remove C715 (0.22 µF); part # 21-13743A23, replace with capacitor part # 21-13741A45.
remove C716 (0.10 µF); part # 21-13743A19, replace with capacitor part # 21-13741A45.

For MT2000,MTS2000,MTX8000,MTX9000 Jedi Radio
remove C716 (0.22 µF); part # 21-13743A23, replace with capacitor part # 21-13741A45.
remove C717 (0.10 µF); part # 21-13743A19, replace with capacitor part # 21-13741A45.

For all VISAR Radio
remove C716 (0.22 µF); part # 21-13743A23, replace with capacitor part # 21-13741A45.
remove C717 (0.10 µF); part # 21-13743K15, replace with capacitor part # 21-13741F49

Once both capacitors are changed, radio(s) should immediately operate with out any additional tuning requirements or alignments. Radio programming personality will not be effected.

Only authorized Motorola Service providers can perform the following warranty repair procedure, per warranty guidelines listed below, or send radio(s) to the Motorola National Depot in Schaumburg Illinois (Ph: 708-576-5760) for customer warranty repair arrangements.

Warranty allowance: Warranty not to exceed $35.00 dollars per radio.
